According to a statement by the Cabinet Secretariat, Mawazine News received a copy of it, that during the meeting, the achievements of the committee and its mission since its formation were reviewed, and the draft national strategy for food security in Iraq (2022-2030) was discussed, and the contents of the working paper on the effects of Environmental factors and economic challenges in the reality of Iraq's food security, represented by water scarcity, and the high rate of dependence on food imports, especially in the context of the stressful effects of the recent international trade arena as a result of the epidemiological crisis.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers commended the committee’s work and its serious and sincere efforts in addressing the challenges facing the present and future of the local food map, calling on the makers of the national strategy to take notes aimed at consolidating it and making it implementable.
Al-Ghazi pointed out that the agricultural, water, and groundwater resources in Iraq are characterized by creative potential if investment is made in their sectors, according to well-studied, well-defined plans of action, especially as the world today tends to think of relying on alternative resources, in support of national economies. .
The statement continued, "In the meeting, some proposals and visions received a note of importance from the Secretary-General, for what he saw as having a practical possibility to serve decision-makers, especially with regard to formulating a scientific food security strategy, and openness to international partnership, in order to reach to an active Iraqi food life."
