    Today, Friday, the Ministry of Water Resources revealed a plan to inject wells into orchards areas for the purpose of treating their irrigation next summer, while determining the area of ​​cultivated land with groundwater.
    Aoun Diab, a consultant to the Ministry of Water Resources, said in a statement, "There are large areas of wheat and barley cultivation that are sprinkled with sprinklers in the holy governorate of Karbala, which is estimated at more than 100,000 dunams that are irrigated in this way, and it has succeeded in that," noting that "more than two million and 500 dunums Of the land has been cultivated by relying on groundwater, and it is expected that the production rate for this year will reach one million tons.”
    He added, "There are limitations to the use of groundwater so that it is not unjust, in addition to the fact that groundwater in the winter season is less used," noting that "the ministry is working to treat the watering of orchards through the use of drip methods, and that there is a difficulty facing the ministry in the governorate." Diyala because of irrigating orchards in this way.”
    He explained that "the Minister of Water Resources has been addressed about increasing the proportion of Diyala governorate's share, and the water must be referred from the Khalis pumping area in order to enhance the need for it."
    He stressed that “there is a tendency to inject wells in orchard areas for the purpose of treating their watering next summer, as well as trying to inject wells within a sound plan,” noting that “the rain was limited according to the available indicators, as part of the rain fell only in the northern and eastern regions and within the limited imports, and this It is difficult to determine the summer plan.”
    Diab indicated that "drinking water is guaranteed for next summer, as well as water for irrigating orchards, and water for human use," explaining that "the rice crop needs large amounts of water, in addition to the wheat crop being more important than rice, and there will be a meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture to discuss, As well as clarifying some matters in the coming year.” End / 25
