    Mayor of Baghdad, Engineer Ammar Musa Kazem, confirmed on Saturday that the current year will witness the opening of the first section of the 5-km Baghdad-Kirkuk entrance development project within the borders of the capital.
    Musa said in a statement to the Baghdad Municipality, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the work of developing the entrances to the capital is one of the important projects that the government attaches great importance to,” noting that “these entrances include two parts, one of which is within the borders of the Baghdad Governorate and the other is within the borders of the Baghdad Municipality, which is working We will develop these entrances to suit the capital, Baghdad, in conjunction with the governorate’s work.”

    He added: “During a field visit, we followed the Baghdad-Kirkuk entrance, which is the longest entrance included in development within the borders of the capital, with a length of (9) km,” pointing out that “the cadres working in the project are continuing the work of expanding the road to become (16) meters wide, developing the central island, and implementing streets.” Services with a width of (8) m, landscaping works, and the installation of pedestrian bridges with modern designs.”

    He stated that "there are conflicts in the infrastructure that led to a delay in the completion of some works, and the necessary decisions to address these conflicts were obtained by the Council of Ministers, and now work is proceeding at a high pace to speed up the completion of the development of the entrance," stressing that "the development work does not affect traffic and movement, and it is It is hoped that during this year the first section of the project will be opened, with a length of 5 km, extending from the Baghdad Arch until the ancient people’s control and its entry into service.”
