    Baghdad today - Diyala
Representative Muhammad Al-Bayati confirmed today, Sunday (May 26, 2024), that the budget allocated to Diyala Governorate in the 2024 schedules is not sufficient to pay off companies’ debts.
Al-Bayati said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "In the language of numbers, Diyala's budget in 2023 amounted to more than 430 billion dinars, but we were surprised after reviewing the draft 2024 budget tables that it did not exceed 78 billion dinars, meaning that the decrease reached 80%." at least".
He added, "What happened is extremely dangerous in Diyala, especially since it is living in exceptional circumstances that require greater funding for the sustainability of service projects."
He pointed out that "based on what was allocated to Diyala, it is not possible to fulfill the current financial obligations towards companies and contractors, in addition to the inability to establish new projects."
He continued, "There will be a parliamentary movement to help Diyala's budget and raise it in a way that allows financing of service projects to continue."
It is noteworthy that Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, referred the schedules of the Federal General Budget Law 2024 to the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
According to a document issued by the Council on the twenty-first of this month and obtained by “Baghdad Today”, “Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi announced the referral of the schedules of the Federal General Budget Law 2024 to the Parliamentary Finance Committee.”
Much criticism was directed at the federal budget schedules for the year 2024 that the government sent to Parliament for the purpose of approval, as its revenues are estimated at 144 trillion.
And 336 billion dinars, while expenditures amount to 210 trillion and 936 billion dinars, while the deficit will be 63 trillion and 599 billion dinars.
