    Today, Thursday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed with the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowsky, the Iraqi situation and the formation of the government.
    In a statement received by the National News Center, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received the US ambassador to Iraq, Mrs. Alina Romanowski, and during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to develop joint cooperation between Baghdad and Washington, and the two sides discussed the Iraqi situation. And the issue of forming the new Iraqi government and the obstacles it faces.
    According to the statement, "The two sides reviewed a number of international and regional issues, and files of common interest, foremost of which are the security and military developments in Ukraine and how this conflict affected the security situation in the region in general and the economic situation in particular."
    The statement indicated that "reference was made to discussions in Vienna between the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States of America and other concerned countries."
    For her part, the US ambassador stressed that "the United States supports Iraq in many areas, and it will continue to do so."
