Earth News / Deputy Speaker of Parliament Shakhwan Abdullah discussed, today, Wednesday, with the Minister of Commerce, the procedures for implementing the emergency food security support law, guaranteeing the ration card items for the coming months and disbursing farmers' entitlements.
A statement from Abdullah's office, received by Earth News, said, "The latter visited the Ministry of Commerce building and was received by Minister of Commerce Alaa Ahmed Al-Jubouri and the advanced cadre in the ministry."
He added, "During the meeting, the progress of the ministry's work and the efforts made by the departments and companies associated with it were reviewed, and mechanisms for maintaining levels of food security were discussed, as well as the importance of maintaining stability in the prices of basic foodstuffs in the markets, and the procedures for implementing the emergency support law for food security and development." .
The Vice-President of the Council stressed, according to the statement, “the importance of continuing the ministry’s efforts to provide services to citizens and achieve food security that is directly related to stability, providing the items of the ration card and food baskets, and financial funding to disburse farmers’ entitlements for previous years in all governorates of Iraq, while Abdullah called for continued cooperation between The Ministry of Commerce and the Kurdistan Region to secure foodstuffs and provide support and humanitarian, food and relief assistance to the camps of the displaced within the region.
