    Twilight News / European traders said on Thursday that Iraq launch an international tender for the purchase of 15 thousand tons at least of basmati rice from India.The tender closes on the first of September and offers must be valid until the fifth of the same month, according to Reuters reported and seen by "Twilight News". Traders said they believed that the new tender may indicate that Iraq did not buy any quantities in the tender earlier put forward for the purchase of 15 thousand tons, at least from the Indian basmati rice, which closed on July 21 and remained offers are valid until the twenty-fifth of the same month. The quantities in the Iraqi tenders to buy rice nominal and Iraq usually buys more than the amounts requested. On the Fourth of July, Iraq bought 87 thousand and 500 tons of basmati rice from India after the purchase order 15 000 tons at least. On 15 August, Iraq rejected bids in an international tender to buy a separate 30 thousand tons of rice, at least from the United States, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Vietnam, Thailand, said that the prices offered were too high. Iraq and a major importer of grain in the region and is mostly distributed to the population within the quota of the ration card program in place since the nineties of the last century.
