Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Electricity announced an 11-axis plan to develop the energy sector, while indicating that the Gulf connection will be completed by the end of this year.
The Ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said, "The Ministry of Electricity continues to implement its comprehensive plan to develop the electricity sector with the support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani."
Moussa explained, “The development plan includes increasing the productive capacities in the production sector, achieving reliability in the transportation sector, increasing the reliability of connectivity between the governorates, establishing transmission lines, developing conversion stations, and increasing their capacities and discharging capacities, in addition to rehabilitating distribution networks, converting part of them to terrestrial networks, developing feeders, and rehabilitating networks.” Distribution, changing and increasing the capacities of transformers installed in the streets, in addition to lighting projects,” stressing that “the Ministry seeks to produce 27 thousand megawatts as we enter the peak of summer loads.”
Moussa added, "The processing hours during the coming summer will be better than last summer, due to the increase of more than 3,000 megawatts on the national grid."
He stated, “Some regions and governorates witnessed a fluctuation in processing hours, and one of the reasons for this was the cessation of the Khor Mor gas field, which caused the national system to lose 1,500 megawatts at the time,” noting that “this field has resumed gas production for the benefit of the stations in the northern region.”
