The head of the Agricultural Jihad Foundation in Gharbia Governorate, Khosrow Shahbazi, said today, Thursday, that an Iraqi trade delegation is visiting the governorate with the aim of facilitating exports of Iranian agricultural crops to Iraq.
The official Iranian IRNA news agency quoted Shahbazi as saying on the sidelines of the Iraqi delegation’s visit that “Iraq’s geographic proximity to West Azerbaijan Province paves the way for good trade communication between the two countries.”
He explained that the governorate is the largest producer of apples in the country and produces 1.5 million tons of this fruit, more than 700 thousand tons of which are exported to the targeted countries.
Shahbazi added that the Iraqi commercial and administrative delegation is visiting West Azerbaijan Governorate on Wednesday and Thursday to study how to export apples and other agricultural products to Iraq.
