The House of Representatives is expected, during its session today, to extend its legislative term for a month. It is hoped that the government will send the budget schedules soon, which will be appropriate - according to politicians - to schedule a session next week in order to proceed with the election of a Speaker of Parliament. .

He added, “There will also be an extension of the legislative term if the budget schedules arrive, which are scheduled to arrive soon, and a notification may arrive from the government sending the schedules so that there will be an extension of the term, and during the extension there will be a session to choose a speaker for Parliament, which is what was agreed upon.” He continued, “The session will be a second round and a continuation of the previous session to elect the Speaker of the Council,” according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.

For his part, spokesman for the State of Law parliamentary bloc, Aqeel Al-Fatlawi, said, “The position of Speaker of Parliament is a Sunni entitlement, but this component was not resolved, which prompted the coordination framework to intervene,” indicating that “the coordination saw that waiting for Sunni consensus was no longer useful.”

He stressed, "The Shiite component was keen to resolve the issue of the presidency, as it presented many proposals to resolve the crisis, but did not reach a result," according to the newspaper.

The Taqadum Party, headed by the dismissed Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, called for changing some provisions of the bylaws so that it could nominate a person of its own to head Parliament, but “most” of the Shiite forces refused to touch the bylaws.
