During its session today, the House of Representatives is expected to extend its legislative term for a month. It is hoped that the government will send the budget schedules soon, which will be appropriate - according to politicians and observers - to schedule a session next week in order to proceed with the election of a Speaker of Parliament.
Representative Yasser Al-Husseini said in a press interview: “Until this moment there is no agreement on electing the Speaker of Parliament, but there is a request for a period of one week to resolve the matter, so we hope that next week will be decisive in choosing the Speaker of Parliament.”
He added, “There will also be an extension of the legislative term if the budget schedules arrive, which are scheduled to arrive soon, and a notification may arrive from the government sending the schedules so that there will be an extension of the term, and during the extension there will be a session to choose a speaker for Parliament, which is what was agreed upon.” He continued, “The session will be a second round and a continuation of the previous Council Speaker election session.”
