Representative Mudar Al-Karawi confirmed that extending the legislative term depends on an important point.
Al-Karawi said, if the government does not set a fixed date for sending the 2024 budget schedules, the recess for the legislative term will go ahead.
He added that if the budget schedules arrive during the holiday, they will be discussed by the Parliamentary Finance Committee, and if they are completed, a request will be submitted to the Presidency of the House of Representatives to hold an emergency session to vote on them, pointing out that this is a legal option, but in return, the Council can agree and vote to extend the legislative term until the schedules arrive. Budget.
He pointed out that there is more than one legal option before the House of Representatives, but what is important is to expedite sending the budget schedules and voting on them after an audit and study by the Finance Committee.
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives may decide to extend the legislative term for the sake of the 2024 budget schedules, which are still in the corridors of the government.
