    The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced today, Wednesday, work on legislating a law on occupational health and safety that guarantees workers’ rights and reduces accidents.
    A work statement received by Mawazine News stated, “The Minister, during his attendance at the World Occupational Health and Safety Day celebration, confirmed that the Ministry will work with the parliamentary labor and legal committees to expedite the legislation of a law on occupational health and safety, as it is considered one of the important and basic laws to support the labor market in Iraq.” Reducing accidents and risks in the work environment, as well as applying occupational health and safety standards in every institution and company, whether in the public or private sector.”
    Al-Assadi congratulated “the workers at the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety on the occasion of World Occupational Health and Safety Day and the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the National Center,” noting that “the Ministry’s priorities in the National Service Government are to follow up on workers and employers and prepare and provide their requirements to ensure their rights and the success of their work in accordance with the market.” the job".
    He described the year 2024 as “the year of work, as the focus will be on three important departments, which are the Department of Labor and Vocational Training, the Department of Retirement and Social Security, in addition to the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety,” pointing out “the formation of a committee from the Ministry to coordinate with the Coordinating Authority for the Governorates to recover some Departments transferred pursuant to the Transfer of Powers Law.
    He pointed out, "Conducting a major inspection campaign on brick factories in Baghdad to examine workers and follow up on the implementation of occupational health and safety procedures and the Social Security Law in order to create a safe and secure work environment and guarantee workers' rights."
