, Chairman of the Security and Defense Committee in the House of Representatives, Khaled Al-Obeidi, revealed today, Tuesday, that the amount of salaries whose contracts have been nullified in various security services exceeds 2 trillion dinars annually.
Al-Obaidi said in an interview with the official “Al-Sabah” newspaper, which was followed by Mawazine News, that “the ministries wish to return their rescinded contracts and have completed all procedures for that,” referring to “hosting the Chairman of the Supreme Committee whose contracts have been rescinded, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Taif Sami, and the heads of committees in the ministries, security services and the Mobilization Authority.” Al-Shabi to seek clarification on the measures taken regarding their return to service.
He added, "The armed forces emerged from several fierce battles during the liberation operations and need compensation and new volunteers," noting that "all ministries and security services have completed lists of officers and affiliates whose contracts have been revoked, while the Ministry of Defense has launched a website to communicate with those whose contracts have been revoked and to submit their papers to re-examination and interview." and adopting the standards set by the Ministry.
He explained, "There are more than 102 thousand of those whose contracts have been terminated from various security agencies, distributed by 37 thousand for the defense, 29 thousand for the Ministry of the Interior, 30 thousand for the Popular Mobilization, and the rest for the Intelligence and National Security Services," noting that "some of these are employed and others have died or are sick." In addition, some of them are old and have service and will retire, while their experiences will be used in various units.”
The head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee continued, "The only obstacle to the return of those whose contracts have been terminated is the financial allocations amounting to 2 trillion and 400 billion dinars annually, as nearly 300 billion dinars were allocated to them in the emergency support law, enough for only one month's salaries."
