Iran complains about Iraq to the United Nations: the disarmament of "opposition parties" has not been completed
Shafaq News / The permanent Iranian diplomatic mission to the United Nations called for the implementation of agreements with the Iraqi government in the field of closing the headquarters and disarming the Kurdish opposition parties opposed to the regime in Tehran, which are located in the Kurdistan Region.
This came in a letter from the Permanent Mission of Iran to the United Nations to the members of the Security Council, in which it explained the position of the Republic of Iran on carrying out military operations against the headquarters of the Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The mission stated in a lengthy message published by official Iranian media today, Thursday, that "after numerous consultations conducted by the Islamic Republic of Iran with officials of the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region, Iran has no other choice but to use its principle right to defend itself within the framework of international law in order to protect Its national security, and accordingly it has recently carried out operations against (Kurdish opposition parties) stationed in the northern region of Iraq.
According to the letter, Iran "has been the target of attacks by (those parties) based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for years. Recently, these groups have intensified their activities and illegally transferred large quantities of weapons to Iran to arm affiliated groups that intend to carry out terrorist operations, which led to Increasing human and brutal losses and destroying public and private property.
The letter noted that Iran, "while emphasizing the Iraqi government's responsibility to effectively control the entire internationally recognized territory and borders of this country, has provided undeniable evidence and reliable information to Iraqi government officials and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq regarding (terrorist and separatist groups) exploiting Iraqi territory to plan Supporting, organizing and carrying out sabotage and terrorist acts against Iran.
She indicated that "during several rounds of negotiations and bilateral consultations with officials of the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, including the recent visit of the Iraqi National Security Adviser to Tehran about a month ago, Iran requested the extradition of people who committed terrorist crimes for trial in Iranian courts. The headquarters of the Iraqi government must also be closed." These terrorist groups and their training camps and the disarmament of their members.
She also said, "Iran also stressed the need for the presence of Iraqi military forces on the international borders of the two countries, and the Iraqi delegation agreed to these requests and committed itself to setting a time frame to complete the disarmament of these terrorist groups," as she put it.
And she went on to say, "Unfortunately, no effective measures have been taken to implement this agreement until today, and therefore Iran certainly demands the implementation of the above-mentioned agreement."
And the Iranian permanent mission went on to say that "in this situation, Iran has no choice but to use its principled right to defend itself within the framework of international law in order to protect its national security and defend its people, and it has recently carried out necessary military operations against (terrorist groups) stationed in the region." Iraqi Kurdistan, where it targeted, with careful planning, the locations of the terrorists."
She emphasized that "the Islamic Republic of Iran is strongly committed to resolving this issue with the Iraqi government through a bilateral mechanism as part of the ongoing fight against terrorism."
The Iranian permanent mission concluded its message by saying: "The Islamic Republic of Iran fully respects the security and stability of Iraq and reaffirms once again its commitment to the territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq."
It is noteworthy that the Iranian forces recently carried out missile and aircraft attacks targeting the sites of the Kurdish parties opposing the regime in Tehran, which are located on the territory of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
These attacks sparked widespread condemnation by the regional government, the federal government, the United Nations, and a group of Arab and foreign countries, led by the United States of America.
The Ministerial Council for Iraqi National Security had discussed yesterday, Wednesday, "the Turkish and Iranian attacks and violations on the Iraqi borders, and the bombing that affected a number of areas in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and caused terror among the people and harmed them and their property."
In a statement issued by the meeting, which was held in the presence of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, the Council said, "Within the framework of work to stop these attacks, in addition to the continuation of diplomatic efforts, the Council took the following decisions:
1- Developing a plan to redeploy the Iraqi border forces to hold the zero line along the borders with Iran and Turkey.
2- Securing all logistical support requirements for the Border Forces Command, strengthening the human capabilities and the necessary funds, and providing them with equipment and others, in order to enable them to accomplish their tasks.
3. Maneuvering with the human resources available to the Ministry of the Interior to strengthen the border posts.
4. Coordinating with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the Ministry of Peshmerga to accomplish paragraphs 1 and 2 above with the aim of unifying the national effort to protect the Iraqi borders.
