    Today, Sunday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent an official complaint to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and to the United Nations Security Council regarding American air strikes on Iraqi soil and targeted the Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani and a number of Iraqi military personnel.
    The ministry said in a statement, “The complaint relates to the American attacks and attacks against Iraqi military sites, and the assassination of high-level Iraqi and friendly military leaders on Iraqi soil.
    The statement described the attacks as a serious violation of Iraqi sovereignty and in violation of the conditions for the presence of US forces in Iraq.

    The statement was previously preceded by a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it announced summonsing the US ambassador to Baghdad Matthew Toller in Baghdad, stressing that these unlawful military operations carried out by the United States of aggression and a condemned act are causing the tension to escalate in the region.

    The ministry affirmed “Iraq’s condemnation of this act, which represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and all international norms and laws that regulate relations between states, and the prevention of the use of its lands to carry out attacks on neighboring countries,” stressing that “what took place violates what was agreed upon in terms of tasks For the international coalition that is limited to combating the terrorist organization ISIS and training Iraqi security forces, in coordination with and overseeing the Iraqi government.
    The ministry considered "these unlawful military operations carried out by the United States of aggression and condemned action that cause the escalation of tension in the region at a time when the US administration should cooperate with Iraq in reducing security tension and resolving the crises that afflict the region."
