Shafaq News/ The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, stated, on Saturday, that his country is continuing to activate the tripartite agreement between his country, Jordan and Egypt, in addition to the electrical connection and the extension of a pipeline to export oil from Basra Governorate to the port of Aqaba.
This came in a joint press conference held by Al-Halbousi with his Jordanian counterpart, Ahmed Al-Safadi, after the end of the latter's visit to the capital, Baghdad.

Al-Halbousi said during the conference, that during the meetings that the Jordanian parliamentary delegation held with the three presidencies and the Iraqi political forces and parties during the past days, there was an emphasis on the constants of the size of the relationship between neighbors between Iraqis and Jordanians, and the need to face the challenges that the region and the world are going through, and we have a vision in this file, whether at the level Parliament, by activating the two parliaments in the Arab, Islamic and international parliaments, or at the level of governments, by activating bilateral agreements and cooperation.
He added that the security file was also discussed, the prosecution of ISIS cells, and the provision of intelligence efforts from Jordan, in addition to the prosecution of those involved in corruption cases during the previous period in Iraq, and Jordan has shown its continued cooperation in this file.
Al-Halbousi also stressed the activation of the Iraqi-Jordanian bilateral agreements, as well as the activation of the tripartite agreement between Baghdad, Amman and Cairo, because this agreement has strategic dimensions that reflect positively on these countries, and on the stability of the region, adding: We discussed the possibility of exchanging goods between Iraq and these countries, and that Jordan is distinguished By providing commodities in various sectors, we may need them in the next stage, including agriculture, medicine and electric energy.
Al-Halbousi touched on the issue of electrical interconnection, saying: A detailed discussion took place in this matter, and it is a continuation of the previous meetings between the two countries in this aspect.
The Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives indicated that one of the important strategic aspects that Iraq has been looking for for a long time is the number of oil export outlets, and talk about linking the governorates of Basra and Aqaba, indicating that this project will see the light soon, and an integrated study has been developed for it after it has been researched. The current Iraqi government is the obstacles that led to not proceeding with this project, and frankly, the financial cost of its completion was very high, and it was re-examined.
He noted that Jordan is not concerned with the financial cost of completing the project because it is being implemented with Iraqi oil revenues, but its completion will increase the volume of Iraqi oil exports and open up to other global markets, describing the increase in outlets for selling Iraqi oil as "important."
Al-Halbousi continued by saying that the Jordanian legislative side emphasized support for the completion of this strategic project, pointing to the reduction in the cost of completion, and at the same time many technical matters were identified that will be held in the executive authority.
For his part, Safadi said during the conference that extending a pipeline to export oil from Basra to the port of Aqaba will provide a new outlet for export, and also that the investment cost will return to Iraq from export revenues.
He referred to the issue of electrical interconnection between Iraq and Jordan, and Al-Safadi said: We will seek to increase the amount of energy through this interconnection, stressing that there will be cooperation in all fields between the two countries.
