Baghdad / Obelisk: Informed sources said that the poles of the disputes in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil resorted to Iran in order to achieve a breakthrough in the outstanding files between them, which exacerbated the political crisis afflicting the region, amid fears of dividing the region into two independent administrations.
External parties such as the United States have sought to resolve the differences without achieving results.
The absolute sources indicate that Iran's mediation regarding the differences may be the last option before the situation explodes, and its mediation is likely to lead to results due to its great influence on Iraq and its extensive relations with the Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni parties.
The most important Kurdish differences are the amendment of the election law and the unification of financial revenues, as well as the real partnership in managing the ruling system.
In the matter of Iranian mediation, a source revealed, according to Draw newspaper, that former Iraqi President Barham Salih paid a visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran, and met there with the commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Ismail Qaani, and the head of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani.
The source pointed out that Saleh's visit to Iran is related to the worsening relationship between the two Kurdish parties (the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party) and the internal problems of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
Instead of the intervention of Baghdad, which seemed incapable of resolving the differences, the Kurdish parties resorted to external parties to find a solution.
