    Shafaq News/ On Sunday, the Kurdistan Regional Government concluded a memorandum of cooperation with an international organization specialized in combating drugs and limiting drug smuggling across the border.
    The head of the Office of Recommendations for International Organizations in the regional government, Dandar Zebari, said during a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency, "The Kurdistan Regional Government concluded a memorandum of cooperation with the representative of (UNDC) the international drug control organization in Iraq, to ​​reduce the phenomenon of the spread of drugs in the region.
    And Zebari said, "We have 4,000 prisoners in the region with drug cases, and we want international assistance because the region is facing a great danger in this aspect, and we also have a problem in controlling the borders through which drugs are smuggled."
    He added, "It was agreed with the organization on 3 points, the first of which is controlling the borders with Turkey, Iran and Syria, and the second point is covering the Kurdish areas outside the control of the Kurdistan Regional Government to organize the security aspect, and the third is organizing campaigns to educate about the dangers of drugs."
    For his part, Ali Akbar, the director of the International Organization's office in Iraq, said, "We agreed with the Kurdistan Regional Government to cooperate in combating drugs, and these points that were agreed upon will be submitted to the United Nations in order to reduce the dangers of drugs in the region, Iraq and the countries of the region in general, because the region does not have Total ability to combat drugs.
