Shafaq News/ The US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, revealed, on Wednesday, the reasons for her visit to Nineveh Governorate, while noting that the United States is focusing on supporting efforts to rebuild the city of Mosul.

This came during a press conference held today by Romanowski, with the governor of Nineveh, Najm al-Jubouri, in the city of Mosul.
During the conference, al-Jubouri praised "the American role in the operations to liberate Mosul, as well as its role in supporting the reconstruction of the liberated areas," expressing his thanks for "the positions of the American people towards the Iraqi people."
For her part, Romanowski expressed her happiness at being in Mosul, stressing that "the purpose of her visit is to discuss the issue of the reconstruction of Mosul."
The US ambassador indicated that her country "focuses on efforts to support reconstruction in Iraq, specifically in Nineveh, and expand cooperation frameworks in all fields within the strategic agreement between the two countries, in addition to economic and security support."
Romanowski said, "We are on the cusp of 20 years of relations between the two countries, and we look forward to the next 20 years," adding, "We realize that nothing can be achieved without stability, and we seek to expand our work."
She added, "We have spent $250 million through the United States Agency for Development, and we are working to do more, and here we do not underestimate the size of the challenges and encourage taking steps to build a stronger Iraq to achieve stability and sovereignty for this country."
Regarding the opening of the US consulate in Mosul, Romanowski pointed out, "There is a desire in this aspect to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, expressing at the same time her country's aspiration to facilitate the return of all Iraqi families to their areas, including the families in the Syrian al-Hawl camp."
