    The Iraqi government is conducting consultations in order to discuss amending the Iraqi constitution, according to what was revealed by a report published by the Iraqi News Agency, “INA”, on Saturday.[/size]
    [size=45]The Prime Minister's Advisor for Constitutional Affairs, Hassan al-Yasiri, met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and they discussed "the broad lines of the draft ... amending the constitution."[/size]
    [size=45]"The next step is to meet the leaders of the political blocs for the purpose of presenting the draft (amendment of the constitution) to them," Al-Yasiri told conscious.[/size]
    [size=45]And the media office of the prime minister had said in a previous statement that Al-Yasiri “will start his work duties by holding meetings, meetings and discussions with representatives of the executive and legislative presidencies,” noting that he will “consult with the judiciary to draw features of a road map for making constitutional amendments.”[/size]
    [size=45]The statement indicated that this step comes within the government's commitment to implement "the contents of the ministerial platform approved by the House of Representatives," adding that it comes within "the agreement of the political blocs on the need to make constitutional amendments."[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out that these amendments “will avoid the recurrence of political deadlocks that occurred at different stages, especially in the recent period.”[/size]
    [size=45]During the past year, the country has witnessed a state of political impasse that has engulfed the country for a whole year since the results of the early parliamentary elections were announced in 2021, which witnessed a low participation rate, followed by a state of tension, political differences and even violence, which ended with the selection of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani as prime minister, In October 2022, according to an AFP report.[/size]
