The Iraqi News Network revealed that discussions are now taking place between the Jordanian and Iraqi governments to renew a previous contract signed in 2021, to supply Amman with Iraqi oil at a financial reduction of up to $16 per barrel on an ongoing basis.

And the network indicated in a report translated by (Baghdad Today), that "Jordan is now trying to expand the deal that took place through the memorandum of understanding to increase its access to Iraqi oil at reduced prices, at a time when it needs 140,000 barrels per day, while it imports only ten thousand barrels per day from Iraq. Driven by the economic partnership that the US administration urged Baghdad to establish with Jordan.
The report stressed that "Jordan, during the past year, was able to obtain annual profits that amounted to twenty-eight million dollars, which is expected to increase by a large percentage with the large inflation in the quantities of oil that Jordan requests to be imported at reduced prices."
According to the current deal, which is about to expire, Iraq is providing Jordan with ten thousand barrels of oil per day at a discount of sixteen dollars for each barrel, which confirmed that it is facing problems of political rejection from Iraqi leaders as a result of the financial losses incurred by Iraq as part of the deal.
It is not known whether Iraq will raise Jordan's share of the quantities of oil exported to more than 10,000 barrels per day, at a time when Jordan wants to fill the largest possible amount of its needs through Iraq.
