(Baghdad: Al Furat News) President Barham Saleh called for raising the level of security cooperation and the exchange of intelligence between Iraq and Jordan and the countries of the region to eliminate the scourge of terrorism, expressing the hope that Iraq will be provided information on those wanted to justice.
A statement issued by the Al-Firat News Agency today quoted Saleh as saying during a meeting with Jordanian monarch King Abdullah II in Amman on Thursday, during an official visit, "the need to strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries by opening greater horizons For cooperation in the fields of trade and economic and joint security coordination, "praising" Jordan's position on Iraq in its war against terrorism. "
The President of the Republic pointed out the importance of Arab and regional cooperation with each other to combat terrorism and achieve security in the region. He added that "the victory of Iraq and the defeat of the terrorist gangs is a victory for the region and the world, stressing the need to preserve this victory by standing against everything that destabilizes it. Peace and stability ".
He urged the Jordanian companies to "invest in Iraq, while noting the importance of facilitating the procedures for granting visas to Iraqis."
For his part, the Jordanian monarch congratulated the President of the Republic Barham Saleh for his work, stressing the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's keenness on the security and stability of Iraq.
He pointed out that "the visit of President Barham Saleh to Amman is a confirmation of the depth of relations between the two countries."
The two sides discussed the developments in the Arab region and the necessity of working to support the unity of the Arab ranks and the convergence of views on issues related to the security and stability of the region, pointing out the importance of cooperation in activating the tripartite strategic partnership in the field of transport, industry and trade.
The President also discussed with the King of Jordan the return of Iraqi frozen and smuggled funds. He stressed the need to provide Iraq with information on smugglers and those wanted for justice, as well as discuss coordination and military cooperation and exchange of information between security agencies in both countries.
On the economic side, the two sides discussed the establishment of a free industrial city at the border port in Trebil and the Iraqi-Jordanian electricity connection project through Anbar province.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hakim, Industry Saleh al-Jubouri, Anbar Governor Ali Farhan, Falah al-Amiri representing the Ministry of Oil and Khalid Ghazi from the Ministry of Electricity, as well as a number of advisors and experts.
