Monday-Tuesday, the city of Baquba, the local capital of Diyala, (80 km) east of Baghdad, was shaken by the news of the killing of 8 Iraqis, including women and children, and the wounding of two others from one family, when gunmen targeted a house and a car in which a family of relatives of a prominent tribal leader was traveling in a double attack. In the city of Muqdadiya, east of the province.
The new attack comes after a series of bloody events in the province over the past month, including the killing and wounding of 17 civilians in attacks carried out by armed militias on the village of Al-Jayalah, east of Diyala, followed by assassinations of a prominent doctor and former Iraqi army officer.
On the occurrence of this incident, and out of a sense of national and moral responsibility, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani visited Diyala province today, Wednesday, to hold meetings with the local government, security and military leaders in the province, in addition to tribal sheikhs.
In Diyala, the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, chaired a security meeting of the security leaders in Diyala Governorate, which he arrived at noon today, Wednesday, at the head of a military and government service delegation.
He listened to a briefing on the conditions of the province and the efforts of the security forces to establish security and stability throughout its districts and sub-districts. The meeting witnessed a discussion of the repeated security breaches in a number of areas of the governorate, and the mechanisms to address them.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed to send military and security reinforcements to Diyala Governorate, and gave the security leaders two weeks to apply the law in all areas of the province.
He stressed that the security file in all of Iraq receives great attention from the government, as it is a basis for social and economic stability, stressing his rejection of loose ends in the security file, and that the legal contexts take their course with those involved in disturbing security and the perpetrators of crimes in Diyala.
And Al-Sudani indicated that some people do not like the government’s approach to activating economic activity, and are trying to occupy it with other details far from that, stressing that the government is continuing to implement its program in the economy and development, and that it has no red lines regarding enhancing security and law enforcement.
Al-Sudani's visit to Diyala was very important in order to contain the tension in Diyala Governorate, to identify the challenges and to issue a series of decisions that contribute to strengthening its stability.
These unfortunate events came at a time when the Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, is seeking to reintegrate Iraq with the Arab, regional and international environment politically and economically, politically by redeveloping Iraq's relationship with its regional and Arab surroundings in particular.
Al-Sudani is credited to him politically, that his government is living in stable conditions, and is no longer subject to major tensions on the part of conflicting political parties, which makes it capable of implementing deferred and stalled joint projects, especially since the expected returns from them serve all parties, and are not limited to providing services in exchange for money. In an effort to prove external openness, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, Iraq participated in the Arab-Chinese summit held in Saudi Arabia.
With the Sudanese government, Baghdad has witnessed - and still is - a remarkable diplomatic movement in recent weeks, and Austin is the most senior official in the administration of US President Joe Biden to visit Iraq. After his meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, Austin told reporters that the American forces operating within the international coalition against terrorists will remain in Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government.
Economically, Al-Sudani adopted openness in political relations with an economic and investment dimension to attract investors to the country and move the Iraqi economy forward. Therefore, Al-Sudani tended to diversify the sources of his “economic partnerships”, which he started with the Baghdad-2 conference in Jordan (December 20, 2022) with the strong support of French President Macron, and followed it with an official visit to France on January 26, 2022, at an official invitation also from the French President, whose main title is “Economy and Investment.” and strengthening security partnerships.
In order to achieve these economic partnerships, the Sudanese government signed three contracts with the German company “Siemens” to rehabilitate three electric power stations. In February, the Sudanese government signed 6 contracts for the development of border oil and gas fields with Chinese and Emirati companies. In this context, Al-Sudani said, “His country is determined to achieve self-sufficiency in gas production within three years, in light of the continuous power outages.” and supply disruptions. And he added, "The trend towards investment in associated gas and natural gas stems from a firm conviction, to achieve economic reforms that are a main focus of the government program," explaining: "Iraq's entry into the global gas market will be implemented, and it is not possible to continue burning gas."
Although the Sudanese government was formed only a few months ago, it recorded a clear imprint in the field of foreign policy, on two levels. disputes, by creating the appropriate atmosphere and conditions for constructive dialogues.
The more stable the Iraqi internal environment, the more it will enable Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani to strengthen the right paths and correct the wrong paths, not only at the level of internal security, service and financial files, but also at the level of external files, which in many of its stations and turns do not stray from the internal ones.
Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, with his patriotic sense, seeks to work to rebuild Iraq, and he realizes that this path has many challenges and difficulties, which requires that the Iraqi national political forces stand by him, and not create internal obstacles in various forms by some to disrupt it and disrupt it. Iraq.
