The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, confirmed that attempts to violate the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region are totally unacceptable, indicating that the people are tired of conflicts and political problems.
This came in a speech delivered by the President of the Kurdistan Region, during his participation on Sunday (May 28, 2023), in the graduation ceremony of the fifth batch of students from the American University of Kurdistan / Dohuk.
Nechirvan Barzani said that work is a duty and a responsibility, pointing out that the status of some parties in Iraq as obstacles to political agreements is a matter of concern.
He pointed out that "all parties know that after the signing of the state administration agreement to form the federal Iraqi government, a kind of political stability prevailed in the country, and the Iraqi people and friends around the world are looking forward with hope and pleasure to the positive outcomes of this agreement, and they have based their hopes for a better future on it."
He continued: “It is a matter of deep concern and disappointment that some parties are trying to put obstacles in the way of agreements and understandings between the parties. This method of dealing and attempts to violate the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region is unacceptable in any way, and it does not benefit any party, not Iraq and its stability.
And the President of the Kurdistan Region stressed that "this is only a repetition of a failed experiment that has always ended in harming Iraq and all the components of the Iraqi people."
The President of the Kurdistan Region called on “all political parties to abide by the agreements and protect the political process and the stability of the country,” noting that “the right and correct way to solve problems and crises in Iraq is to adhere to agreements and understandings between the political parties in general and the parties to the state administration coalition in particular.”
“Iraq must be inclusive for all of us, and all constitutional rights of all its components must be preserved and safeguarded. History has proven all of this, and we must all take lessons from the past,” said Nechirvan Barzani.
The President of the Kurdistan Region pointed out that “people, whether in the Kurdistan Region or Iraq, are tired of conflicts and political problems, and we must all review ourselves and put the interest of the country above everything,” noting: “Only through class unity, acceptance of the other and harmony, can we Protecting the federal entity and the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region, and moving towards a better future.
