    , Monday (July 31, 2023), the Tourism Authority of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities announced its achievements in the first half of this year.

    A statement of the authority, received by "Baghdad Today", said that it "achieved revenues for the first half of the year 12 billion Iraqi dinars."
    The statement added, "The number of licensed travel and tourism companies has reached 966, and the number of non-licensed companies that have been closed by the commission has reached approximately 360."
    He continued, "The total number of tourist facilities in hotels reached 1,532 hotels in Baghdad and the provinces, and the number of tourist facilities in terms of restaurants, halls, and the rest of the other tourist facilities has reached 2,094 facilities."
    According to the statement, the head of the Tourism Authority, Dhafer Mahdi, said, "The prime minister's directives regarding the tourism sector were appropriate, as they focused on three broad lines," noting that "the directives included the use of international companies regarding tourism marketing and promotion, which is applicable in most countries in the region, The Authority will cooperate with the Prime Minister's Office in this regard.

    And he indicated, "The Prime Minister called for speeding up this matter," pointing out, "We discussed the infrastructure for tourism services, including airports and land border crossings, which must be qualified."
    He continued, "There is a tendency to build a new terminal at the airport to receive more passengers and aircraft, to be more in line with international requirements and international specifications."
    He explained, "The Tourism Authority is continuing to attract tourists to antiquities, by participating in international exhibitions and holding meetings with foreign tourism companies to exchange tourist groups to and from Iraq," pointing out that "the exhibition in which the Authority participated in Dubai witnessed the signing of contracts between Iraqi tourism companies." accredited and its global counterparts, especially in European countries, to receive European groups, which began to flock to Iraq after the political and security stability.
    Mahdi pointed out that "we will participate in London in the major international tourism exhibition, in the presence of representatives of tourism in most countries of the world, with the aim of promoting tourism and concluding agreements with foreign tourism companies to receive tourist groups to their countries."
