Diyala Council Chairman Omar Al-Karwi confirmed today, Wednesday (October 16, 2024), that the Prime Minister issued three important decisions to support the governorate.
Al-Karwi said, "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani explained in his meeting with the Diyala Council the importance of the governorate's advancement, solving all its problems, and building a roadmap in the service dimension that contributes to strengthening the concern for security and stability by providing services and job opportunities."
He added, "Al-Sudani agreed to proceed with allocating lands for educational cadres and employees, financing a series of infrastructure projects, and forming a central committee that takes into consideration resolving the federal projects file and setting a time frame for their completion, while opening up to the files of investment, agriculture, industry, and liberated areas."
He pointed out that "Al-Sudani's visit will have a positive impact in securing objective solutions to many vital files, especially the services file."
In a second move of its kind, the Prime Minister visited Diyala Governorate today, Wednesday, which did not receive the necessary attention from previous prime ministers, despite the fact that it was the “bumper of terrorism,” according to Al-Sudani’s statement during a speech before the provincial council.
Diyala, along with Kirkuk and Nineveh provinces, occupies the top position in terms of national, ethnic and religious diversity. It is described locally as a “miniature Iraq”, in addition to being one of the main provinces that share a long border with Iran.
In his speech to officials in Diyala, Al-Sudani stressed the “necessity of working as an integrated team, and the need to overcome differences and carry out tasks in order to achieve what is required.”
He pointed out that "infrastructure projects are a priority for the government," recalling "the inevitability of completing them, especially the slow ones," stressing the need to "complete projects away from electoral and political purposes."
Observers believe that Al-Sudani seeks to give exceptional momentum to the importance of the projects that his government is completing, and he often attends the opening of those projects, because he knows the importance of that for ordinary citizens.
