    Baghdad today - Basra
Today, Tuesday (8 August 2023), an official source in the Basra Governorate Diwan revealed that a dispute had erupted between the employees and the official of the Contracts Department at the Governorate Diwan, due to the attempts of the Director of the Contracts Department to pass the Al-Faw Road project despite the existence of legal violations.
The source told "Baghdad Today", that "employees in the Basra Governorate Diwan objected to the largest legal violation and waste of public money in the history of the Basra Governorate Diwan."
He added, "The employees indicated that a direct invitation was sent to three companies, all of which did not meet the conditions, one of which was a company that failed to implement a road of 11 km in length, while solid optical companies and other companies that recently implemented parts of the highway, as well as Road 150 in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan.
And they "described what is happening in the governorate office as the biggest corruption process that is being hatched in dark rooms under the auspices of an influential party's economic body, which is now practicing its role and using the method of threats, intimidation and the language of weapons."
According to the source, employees of the Contracts Department made an urgent appeal to the Integrity Commission and its president, Judge Haider Hanoun, to stop a corruption process amounting to 300 billion dinars, in addition to its attachment to the lives of hundreds of thousands of citizens, hundreds of whom died on the one-lane Faw road.
It was not possible for Baghdad today to receive a comment from the other party, and the right of reply is guaranteed.
