Today, Monday (November 20, 2023), the Ministry of Transport revealed soil investigation operations for the Development Road Project, confirming that four specialized teams have begun the task in a number of governorates.
A statement from the ministry, received by "Baghdad Today", said, "According to the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, work on the development road project is currently underway in the stage of taking soil samples to conduct geological and laboratory analyzes before embarking on the final designs of the railway line and the rules and foundations of the railway."
He added, "Geological experts carry out the process of excavating the soil using a machine (drilling machine, hammer machine), and samples are taken from depths ranging from 1.5 to 3 meters in each operation, until it reaches a total depth of 30 meters, while "Some points reach 20 metres."
He continued, "With regard to the work of the (porhole) device, each hole contains 15-20 models, and each model is examined theoretically on the site to determine the type of soil. The geological details are recorded using the (lookbook) method, and each point is written with its corresponding lookbook, and each type of soil is added with bags." Nylon for the purpose of analysis, in order to reach the final result and use it for the purpose of design.”
He added: “With regard to groundwater tests, the process of digging the soil beneath it is carried out, and after digging, a mass of gas enters it through a special device, in order to measure the groundwater in this area,” noting that “there are four specialized teams distributed in (Samawah, Al-Hamzah ) , south of Samawah, and Basra), explaining that “each team consists of a soil engineer and the one responsible for the drilling operations is a geologist specialized in recording the quality of the soil, in addition to the Super Phaser.”
He noted that "the soil and groundwater level are examined twice from time to time, so that the final result is known between the first and second examinations and presented to the Central Committee."
