Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Independent High Electoral Commission expected, on Thursday, that 3 thousand candidates would be registered to run in the provincial council elections at the end of this year, while it identified those who were prevented from running.
"The commission has so far received 222 nominations for the elections and expects the final number to reach more than 3,000," said Imad Jamil, head of the media team at the commission.
He added, in his talk about those who are prevented from running, that “those who are covered by the procedures of accountability and justice, or against whom judgments have been passed, or those who submitted forged academic certificates, or who committed violations in the electoral campaign, or who violated the rules of conduct signed with the Commission, these will be prevented from running.”
