    First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, affirmed today, Monday, during his meeting with Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab Abdullah, Parliament's intention to legislate a law to form the Supreme Water Council.

    The media office of the First Deputy [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] of the House of Representatives stated in a statement received by [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/133473/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A9 %D9%86%D9%8A%D9%88%D8%B2/ar/]Alsumaria News[/url], that the latter "received the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, and the Administrative Undersecretary, Raed Al-Jashami, in the presence of a number of deputies. During the meeting, they discussed the repercussions of the water scarcity crisis that is going through." In the country, and its dangerous repercussions on many sectors, including agriculture, the environment, tourism, the economy, and others, and reviewing the ministry's plans in dealing with this sensitive file at the internal and external levels, in coordination with the concerned authorities.



    Mandalawi indicated, "The House of Representatives intends to legislate a law for the formation of the [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/4178681319/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AC%D9%84%D8%B3 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89/ar/]Supreme Council[/url] for Water, which will concern the preservation of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]'s water and the water environment, strategic cooperation with upstream countries, and the implementation of strategies to rationalize water consumption."

    Mandalawi stressed on "finding radical solutions to the water scarcity crisis and addressing the effects resulting from it in all governorates of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], calling for coordination with the source countries to increase water releases to obtain a fair and fixed share that secures [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]'s water needs, and to benefit from trade relations with the source countries to achieve this purpose." In addition to developing irrigation methods and rationalizing consumption, preventing encroachment on water quotas, and constructing dams to store water, which leads to putting in place serious remedies to end this crisis.
