The Prime Minister launches major projects in Dhi Qar

Yesterday, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced the launch of plans to implement a group of major projects in Dhi Qar Governorate, including an integrated medical city in Nasiriyah, the establishment of a new residential city with 30,000 units, and several other service projects.
The Prime Minister arrived yesterday, Monday, in Dhi Qar Governorate to inaugurate a number of development projects and follow up on the service and economic conditions of the governorate, where he opened the “Ya Hussein” road in the center of the city of Nasiriyah.
The road, which was implemented within the Dhi Qar Reconstruction Fund projects, consists of two sections: The first section is 3 km long and has four main and service corridors, central islands, green spaces and seating areas, while the second section consists of two corridors 800 meters long, with a central island and a strip of gardens adjacent to the road. “Ya Hussein” Road is equipped with an air-conditioned electric pedestrian bridge that includes stairs and electric elevators.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the first model school buildings in the Sumer neighborhood in the city of Nasiriyah, as part of the Iraqi-Chinese agreement project, and Al-Sudani blessed the completion of the school building, which includes 12 grades, and the proceeding with the schools project, which will include 106 school buildings in Dhi Qar Governorate, out of 1,000. He also praised the high quality of implementation, stressing that school projects represent an important link in the government’s efforts to support the education sector, by completing the required infrastructure, with high performance and within the specified timings and schedules.
When he chaired a meeting that included officials and directors of municipalities, service and administrative departments, and government institutions in Dhi Qar Governorate, Al-Sudani pointed out the necessity of continuing the momentum of project implementation, especially those related to municipal, health, and social services provided to citizens, within the priorities of the government program.
He appreciated the efforts made by the service departments in the governorate, and directed to honor the medical personnel who helped the “German medical team” in successfully performing an artificial heart transplant at the “Nasiriyah Heart Center,” which is a medical precedent in the history of Iraq.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister announced the launch of plans for 8 projects to serve the governorate, which are: a 100-bed hospital project in Souq Al-Shuyoukh district, a 100-bed hospital project in Al-Rifai district, a medical city project in the city of Nasiriyah that includes specialized medical centers, and a safe water delivery project. To drink to Sayed Dakhil district at a cost of 30 billion dinars, a new residential city project on an area of 8,000 dunums, with 30,000 housing units, a project to design and implement Batha sewers, an integrated infrastructure project in Souq Al-Shuyoukh district, in addition to quick service and municipal projects that are assigned to be implemented by the service and engineering effort team. .
During his visit to Dhi Qar, the Prime Minister followed on the ground the “Local Administration Stadium” project in Nasiriyah, which reached completion rates exceeding 72 percent, and reviewed the implementation timetable and its conformity with the stages of work, which is expected to end in the middle of this year.
Al-Sudani praised the efforts made by workers in the “Local Administration” stadium project in Nasiriyah, and the governorate’s spokesman, Abu Al-Hassan Al-Badri, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “Al-Sudani directed the work team in the project to observe the highest quality standards in its facilities equipped with technologies and systems.” “It is a modern international stadium and in accordance with globally applicable specifications, to be one of the most important sports edifices in Dhi Qar Governorate and the southern region.” He explained that “the work team pledged to the Prime Minister to complete the work and open the stadium, which can accommodate (17,000 spectators) during the current year.”
Al-Sudani conducted a field tour to follow up on the progress of the ongoing work in the “Nasiriyah Corniche” project and the rehabilitation of the “Zaytoun Martyrs’ Suspension Bridge,” where he stressed the necessity of adopting the best specifications and adhering to the approved timings for implementation.
The Prime Minister also reviewed the progress of the work related to the project to establish infrastructure and the cultural center in the ancient city of Ur, and stressed the importance of rehabilitating this project, which is a global tourist destination, and falls within the government’s direction to activate the tourism sector in Iraq.
Al-Sudani made a visit to the ancient city of Ur in Dhi Qar Governorate, and briefed the Prime Minister on the conditions of the city, and instructed him to pay attention to it and to the tourism sector in general. Because the city represents a cultural and human heritage, in addition to its tourism importance, which represents an important economic resource for the country.
Al-Sudani directed that a percentage of the governorate’s contracts be allocated to archaeology graduates to work in the historic city.
