The Ministry of Commerce announced that the 47th session of the Baghdad International Fair witnessed the conclusion of 150 economic and social contracts, 50 percent of which were with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, revealing that the Kingdom invited Iraqi businessmen to visit its factories to view its products and export them to the country’s markets.
Minister Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: The 47th session of the Baghdad International Fair, which began its activities on the 10th of this month and ended yesterday, Friday, the 19th, was more distinguished than its predecessor last year in terms of the diversity and size of participation. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has an active and influential presence, in addition to European countries, in addition to the participation of local industry.
He revealed the conclusion of 150 economic and social contracts in addition to the production of food commodities, 75 of which were signed with companies from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to between 50 to 75 contracts with pavilions of other countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Iran and the Sultanate of Oman, which confirmed that they will participate in the 48th session. The upcoming exhibition, after the success witnessed by the exhibition, in addition to the contribution it contributed to employing more than 2,000 workers who contributed to providing services within restaurants, hotels and other sectors supporting the exhibition.
Al-Ghurairi pointed out that Iraq played an important economic role by opening relations with Arab countries and the rest of the world in addition to its accession to the World Trade Organization, noting that the current session differed from the previous ones, in terms of visible and invisible infrastructure, technical touches, and the number of participating companies and countries, which brought A message confirming that Iraq communicates with all countries of the world. This slogan is inspired by the government program, and one of its priorities is for the private sector to be at the forefront as it is the backbone of the country’s economy.
He noted that the activities of the exhibition, in its 47th session, witnessed a large turnout from citizens, the number of whom reached 600,000, to attend the pavilions in which 850 companies and 22 Arab and foreign countries participated, compared to 300 companies and ten countries during the previous sessions, considering it an important economic window on the world, and a circle. He arrived to achieve partnership between the private and international sectors.
For his part, the Director of the Ministry’s General Company for Exhibitions and Commercial Services, Dr. Mustafa Nizar Al-Ani, confirmed in a statement to “Al-Sabah” the government’s tireless efforts to establish mechanisms to preserve the national currency and facilitate procedures for exporters and suppliers through a package of procedures launched by the Ministry in cooperation with other government institutions such as the Central Bank and the Border Ports Authority. .
He pointed out the participation of the Import Committee, headed by the Minister and all government sectors, with the Department of Economic Relations, for the first time, in setting the commodity structure in cooperation with international centers and knowing the exports and imports entering the country, and another committee whose mission is to set the country’s foreign policy through the commodity structure and the cooperation of government sectors.
Al-Ani revealed the organization of an exhibition for Iraqi industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with free facilities provided at the trade exchange square at the Arar border crossing, stressing the invitation of Iraqi businessmen to visit Saudi factories to view and purchase their products, and to re-export them to put them in local markets.
