    Al-Sumaria News - Local

It is hoped that several Iraqi hospitals in the governorates of Najaf, Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar will be managed by foreign companies, where doctors, nurses, and technicians will be entirely under the supervision of their foreign counterparts.

Minister of Health Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi said that his ministry, in accordance with a decision issued by the Council of Ministers, concluded contracts with four well-known international medical companies to manage four hospitals in the country, according to a partnership system, which includes assuming the management of the hospital under a special system, in addition to monitoring, operation and maintenance.

He explained that the hospitals for which contracts were concluded are Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Hospital and Al-Sayyab Hospital in Basra, which were transferred to an Italian company, Al-Nasiriyah to a Qatari company, and Al-Amarah in Maysan to a Turkish company.

He stated that the mission of the companies includes developing an administrative system, and specialized doctors will head the departments and branches in the hospitals, while providing specialized nurses, pharmacists and biologists who will work on developing a medical and health system, in addition to accounting, management, hotel, fumigation and guarding systems, in partnership with Iraqi employees to train with them.

He considered that this would lead to transferring the experience to the ministry's medical staff instead of international companies after three years of work, citing the example of Ibn al-Bitar Hospital, which adopted the same system during the 1980s, and is still adopting that experience.
