The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs confirmed today, Wednesday, the existence of efforts to increase the proportion of Iraqi workers in oil fields and companies, while revealing two types of foreign workers in Iraq and determining the number of registered among them.
Director of the Foreign Labor Department in the Department of Labor and Vocational Training at the Ministry, Atheer Kadhim Hassan, told the official agency, followed by Mawazine News, that “foreign labor in Iraq is divided into two types: the first is labor that is organized through licensed offices or personal recruitment, and this type is controlled, and the other is “For leaked workers, certain conditions were set and this type was corrected. He pointed out that "the number of registered foreign workers is 42 thousand, and the Minister of Labor directed that expatriate workers have an experience certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to practice work in Iraq, meaning that only skilled workers enter Iraq, and the Ministry's inspection teams continue their work to monitor violating foreign workers." Regarding workers in the oil fields, Hassan stressed, “The Minister of Labor seeks to achieve the goal of employing Iraqi workers according to profession, and the percentage will be more than 50%, and the procedures will be applied to all companies and sectors.”
