The Private Education Law is ready for its second reading

The Parliamentary Higher Education Committee sent the Private Education Law No. 25 of 2016 to the Presidency of the House of Representatives for the second reading after completing the amendments to the first reading by holding a workshop hosted by the Ministry and representatives of private universities and colleges throughout Iraq, while comments from some interested parties were followed up for consideration.
Committee member Firas Al-Muslimaoui told Al-Sabah that after the committee completed reading the notes and including them in the law, it sent the law to the Presidency for a second reading, noting that the increase in the number of graduates needs the support of the private sector by absorbing them and investing all the scientific energies and graduates.
He added that the government and parliamentary approach gives advantages to the private sector, the first of which is voting on the Social Security Law, which gave every worker a retirement salary, health insurance, and other benefits, stressing that the Council voted in the budget on one trillion dinars for the private sector.
Al-Muslimaoui pointed out that the government is working to support the private sector in order to provide job opportunities within a suitable environment, in addition to the fact that the budget gave freedom to move between the private and public sectors, and we will witness other important advantages in the next stage.
He pointed out that for the first time in the history of the Iraqi state, the Ministry of Higher Education was able to appoint the first graduate degree holders in the emergency budget law within the food security law, in addition to the remaining grades in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 budget, explaining that private universities are expanding and their number has become more than government ones, and that the sector The private facility is able to accommodate holders of advanced and preliminary degrees as well.
