Dana Gas, the UAE company investing in the Kormor gas field in Sulaymaniyah, announced today, Friday (May 3, 2024), the return of production operations in the field to normal levels.
The company said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", that "gas production rates in the Kormor field have returned to normal levels, which is 500 million cubic meters per day."
She explained, "The return of production operations came in accordance with assurances that the security of the field would be strengthened by Baghdad and the region."
Earlier, the Emirati company Dana Gas announced that one of the liquid storage tanks within Pearl Petroleum’s Khor Mor facilities in the Kurdistan region was subjected to a terrorist attack by a drone.
The company said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "This attack led to the death of four contractor employees and the injury of eight others with minor injuries," stressing that "preserving the health and safety of all its members, employees and contractors, is its top priority."
She added, "Although no significant damage occurred to the facility, to ensure the safety of its employees and operational facilities, production operations were temporarily suspended, and procedural changes were introduced."
It indicated that "it and its partners are in full coordination with the authorities of the Kurdistan Regional Government and at the highest levels in supporting the declared commitments of the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice, in addition to its work with the government authorities to strengthen security and defense measures to allow the resumption of production operations at the Khor Mor facility."
According to its statement, the company affirmed its “firm commitment to the people of the Kurdistan region and Iraq as a whole and all parties associated with it, and looks forward to resuming production operations in Khor Mor as soon as it is safe to do so,” noting that “it will inform the market of any developments on a regular basis.”
