    Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, said yesterday, Sunday: Parliament attaches the utmost importance to laws related to human rights, while he considered the recent decision to extend the legislative term to have come to complete a number of important laws.
    A statement from his office stated, “Al-Mandalawi received the Secretary-General of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, Sultan bin Hassan Al-Jamali, and his accompanying delegation, which is currently visiting the capital, Baghdad, at the invitation of the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq and in the presence of their representatives.”
    He added, “During the meeting, the mechanisms for transferring the presidency of the Arab Network from the National Council in the Republic of Egypt to the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq were discussed, and the network’s annual conference and its next general assembly, which will be held in Baghdad in October 2024, were discussed.”
    Al-Mandalawi stressed, according to the statement, that “the House of Representatives attaches utmost importance to legislation related to human rights, and is keen to approve laws that facilitate the work of the Commission and enhance its role, including the possibility of amending the Law of the High Commission for Human Rights No. (53) of 2008 as amended, in a way that contributes to Addressing the administrative vacuum upon the expiration of the membership of the Board
    of Commissioners.”
    Meanwhile, the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives considered the latest decision to extend the legislative term to have come to complete a number of important laws, most notably the federal general budget schedules for 2024.
    Another statement stated, “Al-Mandalawi sponsored the first tribal forum under the slogan (Integration of National Responsibility) Between parliamentary legislation and tribal laws), in the presence of a number of representatives, sheikhs and notables of Iraq’s tribes.”
    Al-Mandalawi pointed out, according to the statement, that “the supreme religious authority highlighted the role of the authentic clans in preserving the value system of our people, the diversity of its sects, and peaceful coexistence among all components of society, and considered it to be Iraq’s arm when adversity intensifies.”
    He stressed, “The recent decision to extend the legislative term came to complete a number of important laws, foremost of which is (the federal general budget schedules for 2024), in addition to the continuation of the supervisory role supporting the government program, and the continuation of diligent efforts to return the representation of our Sunni Arab brothers in the presidency of the Council today before tomorrow by intensifying dialogues with all political parties.”[/size]
