Shafaq News/ The presidency of the Wasit Court of Appeal demanded that the Iraqi Council of Representatives lift the immunity of MP Sajjad Salem Hussein on charges of insulting the Popular Mobilization Authority.
According to the request, signed by the Chief Public Prosecutor, Judge Najm Abdullah Ahmed, the charge against MP Hussein is in accordance with the provisions of Article (433/A) of the Penal Code, “for insulting the Popular Mobilization Authority and accusing its leadership of committing murders via social media.”
The court called on the House of Representatives to consider the request to lift the immunity of the accused in accordance with the provisions of Article (63 Second) of the Constitution, and the provisions of Article (11/Second/4) of the Penal Code, as amended by Amendment Law No. 10 of 2024.
The Popular Mobilization Authority had previously filed a lawsuit against independent MP Sajjad Salem.
