Al-Obaidi said in a post on Facebook, followed by Sumaria News, that it is expected that the salaries of the government sector for the year 2024 will exceed the barrier of 50 trillion Iraqi dinars for the first time in the history of Iraq, reaching 56 trillion Iraqi dinars, and representing more than 44% of total expenditures, after it represented less than 40% of total expenditures in previous years.
He added that the total value of salaries for the government sector until mid-2024 amounted to 28 trillion Iraqi dinars, an increase of 19% compared to last year, noting that total revenues for the year 2024 are expected to decrease by 3% compared to the previous year, despite the increase in non-oil revenues, but it is offset by a decrease in oil revenues.
