Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed, on Monday, to his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani, the commitment to making all efforts to avoid regional escalation in light of the growing tension in the Middle East.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said - in a statement received by Mawazine News: "The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, expressed their deep concern over the growing tension in the Middle East, which threatens the entire region."
The statement added that "the two parties affirmed their commitment to making all efforts to avoid regional escalation and called on all concerned parties to resort to dialogue and diplomacy in order to stop the escalation and provide space for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza."
He continued, "The two sides agreed to remain in close contact in this regard, as well as within the framework of the Mediterranean Dialogues initiative, which will be organized by the Italian government in Rome in late November."
