Iraq, Egypt discuss regional situation, ways to avoid escalation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed yesterday, Wednesday, with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aati, the situation in the region and ways to avoid escalation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that "the Minister of Foreign Affairs received a phone call from his Egyptian counterpart, during which they discussed reviewing bilateral relations between the two countries and stressing the importance of continuing coordination in the field of tripartite work that includes Iraq, Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."
He added, "Joint efforts to coordinate on the situation in the region were reviewed and views were exchanged, with the aim of avoiding escalation and ensuring intensified efforts to spare the peoples of the region the scourge of wars."
