    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Sunday (August 11, 2024), the Baghdad Provincial Council diagnosed corruption and negative cases in some executive departments in the capital, while revealing its measures to confront those cases.
Council member Ali Al-Mashhadani told Baghdad Today, “The Baghdad Provincial Council is in its early stages of formation, in the first six months of its life, and despite that, we had a supervisory role in following up on all executive departments in the capital.”
Al-Mashhadani said that "some cases and observations were diagnosed, with negligence in the work of some executive directors," stressing that "the provincial council is in the process of dismissing a number of directors who were diagnosed with negative cases, noting that "some files were referred to the Integrity Commission and a number of directors were questioned."
He added, "There are no specific percentages for implementing the tasks of the executive departments in Baghdad, but some departments implement their tasks incorrectly, and some implement them very slowly, and we have strict measures to limit these negative cases."
The member of the State of Law Coalition and former member of the Baghdad Provincial Council, Saad Al-Mutalibi, announced that the local government of Baghdad province is auditing project contracts in the province due to suspicions of corruption.
Al-Mutalibi said in a press statement followed by "Baghdad Today" that "the new local government continues to work on reviewing, examining and auditing contracts for projects to ensure their integrity, after information indicating the existence of cases of corruption in some projects."
The new governor of Baghdad, Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, made field visits to resolve some problems in some projects, according to Al-Mutalibi, who pointed out that “many service projects in Baghdad have resumed work after the formation of the local government.”
