Al-Maliki: The repercussions of encroachment on the judiciary may be more dangerous than terrorism!

The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, denounced what he called the violations against the three authorities in the country, “the judiciary, the legislative and the executive,” warning of the repercussions of these violations, and that they “may be more dangerous than terrorism” for the existing regime in Iraq.
Al-Maliki said in a video-recorded speech, “The judiciary has all respect, and it is the authority we return to in every crisis, and we hope that this trust and its efforts will continue,” adding, “We have repeatedly expressed in writing the constitution, and afterwards, the danger of anything that threatens the state through disruption of the relationship between the three authorities.”
He added, "We have repeatedly warned against any misunderstanding between these authorities, and that things should proceed within the framework of discussions, deliberations, communications and understandings that take place between the authorities until the political process is stable," stressing that "one authority cannot be isolated from the rest of the authorities."
Al-Maliki also pointed out that “the Iraqi judiciary has all the respect we have for this authority in every crisis, and we have complete confidence in our judiciary, and we hope that this confidence will continue, and that the judiciary’s efforts will continue in the process of controlling all matters that require a judicial decision to decide between cases.”
He continued by saying, “The legislative authority also has its respect, as it is the one concerned with legislation, monitoring the state, and monitoring the executive agencies. As for the executive authority, it bears the burden of responsibility in managing the executive process, and it has its respect and commitment.”
The leader of the State of Law Coalition stressed that “this respect that we affirm for all authorities means that each of them (i.e. the authorities) performs its function if it works independently, and the others respect this independence.”
He added, "However, if the judiciary's authority is violated or if it appears, as happened in the media, that the judiciary, the legislative authority, or the executive authority are being violated, this is a dangerous beginning to repercussions that may be even more dangerous than the repercussions of the terrorist operations targeting the regime."
Al-Maliki continued by saying, “Whoever targets the structure of the state, which is the three authorities, has threatened the foundations of the tripartite system, if they are threatened, and the relationship worsens as has unfortunately happened now, and as is happening in the possibility of some areas complaining of the phenomenon of interference in the affairs of one authority in the affairs of another authority, this is a bad start that we reject, denounce and condemn, and we call for respect for the judiciary and what it says in adjudicating cases.”
