The Parliamentary Committee on Regions and Governorates demanded, today, Sunday, amending some paragraphs of the Provincial Councils Law, due to the overlapping of powers therein.

Member of the Regions Committee, Ahmed Salal Al-Badri, stated that “the Regions and Governorates Committee monitors the work of local governments represented by the governorate councils and governors as well,” stressing that “the committee is serious about implementing the provisions of the Governorates Councils Law,” according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.

He added, "The committee recently hosted the head of the Salah al-Din Provincial Council, as well as the head of the Nineveh Provincial Council, and there are clear violations in the implementation of Law 21, as the law specified the number of advisors as well as the deputy governor." Al-Badri called on "the provincial councils to distribute financial resources fairly and achieve justice in the implementation of Law 21."
