    An informed security source reported today, Sunday (September 8, 2024), that the mechanism for burying the bodies of terrorists killed in Iraq by the security services has been decided, while indicating that the identities of the majority of the terrorists killed are known.
    The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The security services, during the operations to track down terrorist networks, kill from time to time many terrorists, some of whom are known and others are unknown and are transferred to the forensic medicine department."
    He added, "The forensic medicine keeps the bodies for 60 days, and if no one comes to inquire about them or requests their burial after verifying their family or relatives according to official documents, the task of documenting detailed information about each body begins, in terms of photos and other information, and then they are transferred to cemeteries designated for unidentified persons. For example, in Diyala there is a special cemetery east of Baqubah, and the rest of the governorates each deal with such a procedure."
    The source pointed out that, "In Diyala, 85-90% of the bodies of terrorists are not received even if their identities are known because their families refuse to receive them in a letter confirming their innocence, but some have other reasons, which is to avoid bearing the burden of the heinous crimes they committed, especially the well-known leaders in terrorist organizations, but in all cases they are buried in the graves of the unidentified."
    He stressed that "most of the terrorists killed are identified after hours through intelligence information, stressing that "no family can be forced to receive the body, and they are the ones who decide in the end, otherwise the procedures in force in the regulations and instructions regarding the burial of unidentified bodies will be taken." 
    It is noteworthy that the Security Media Cell/Joint Operations Command announced on Friday (September 6, 2024) the killing of a terrorist detachment consisting of 3 terrorists within the Diyala Operations Command sector.
    The command said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "In continuation of the security work carried out by our heroic armed forces in pursuing the remaining elements of the terrorist ISIS gangs, and through the distinguished intelligence and technical effort carried out by the Military Intelligence Directorate for three days, with planning, follow-up and supervision by the targeting cell in the Joint Operations Command."
    She confirmed that "at 1900 hours on Friday, after completing all requirements and identifying targets, the Air Falcons carried out a successful air strike using F16 aircraft in the Hamrin Mountains within the Diyala Operations Command sector, targeting a terrorist hideout containing a terrorist detachment consisting of 3 elements. They were killed and all weapons and equipment inside were destroyed."
