The Ministry of Finance confirmed its commitment to paying employees' salaries on time.
The ministry said in a statement that it “would like to clarify to the public opinion that what has been recently circulated by some figures regarding the statements attributed to the Minister of Finance regarding the ministry’s inability to pay the salaries of employees during the coming months is completely false, and the Minister of Finance has made no statement in this regard.”
The ministry affirmed its "full commitment to disbursing salaries on the specified dates to employees, retirees, social welfare, and various security branches, including members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations."
She pointed out that “the salary grant for the employees of the Ministry of Electricity is being secured, and part of it has been audited by the monthly electricity wage lists of the centrally funded departments, which are received by the Ministry of Electricity, and then the reinforcement is being made to the Ministry’s companies based on their request, as it is considered a revenue for the companies affiliated with the Ministry, and a resource to cover the companies’ needs to finance the remaining treasury from the salaries of its members.”
She pointed out that “electricity fees are revenues that must be collected and paid by the Ministry of Electricity, and are recorded as revenues for the state’s general treasury to finance the rest of its current and investment expenditures at the Ministry of Electricity, which include allocations in the state’s general budget and according to what is included in the revenue tables for the budget estimates for the year 2024 proposed by the Council of Ministers and the House of Representatives in Parliamentary Resolution No. (64) of 2024, which includes approval of the estimates of the budget law tables for the year 2024.”
According to the statement, the ministry called on “the public, media professionals, and all interested parties not to be led by rumors and false news, and to rely on official sources to obtain correct information.”
