    Baghdad Today - Erbil
Political activist Saman Ali described, on Thursday (October 3, 2024), the use of public money and government vehicles by Kurdish parties in election propaganda as a violation of the law.
Ali said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "These parties that claim to uphold the law, obtain rights, and fight corruption must first control themselves and respect the law."
He added, "These parties have a premeditated intention to violate the law. Otherwise, what we see of the use of public money, government buildings and cars in election propaganda and mass carnivals is a clear violation and encroachment on public money, which belongs to all citizens, not to a specific party."
On Saturday (July 27, 2024), Kurdish politician Latif Al-Sheikh warned against the exploitation of political money by some parties in the Kurdistan Parliament elections, calling on the commission to limit it.
The sheikh said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "There is chaos and use of public money, and an early electoral conflict in the media statements about the Kurdistan Parliament elections, and these matters must be controlled by the commission."
He added that "the supervisory role must be activated, and the use of public money must be prevented, especially by officials in the regional government," noting that "the parties have begun to use their officials, ministers, governors and directors for the purpose of using them in early electoral propaganda in the elections."
On July 20, 2024, the Independent High Electoral Commission announced the lists of candidates for the Kurdistan Parliament elections, while setting next August as the date for the draw of candidate numbers.
