    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Thursday (October 24, 2024), that its new chairman, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, has assumed his duties as chairman of the commission.
The commission said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Mohammed Ali Al-Lami assumes his duties as head of the Federal Integrity Commission."
Yesterday, Wednesday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani assigned Mohammed Ali Al-Lami to the position of Chairman of the Integrity Commission, succeeding Haider Hanoun.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Al-Sudani decided to assign Mohammed Ali Al-Lami to the position of Chairman of the Integrity Commission, succeeding Haider Hanoun, whom the Council of Ministers voted to appoint as a special advisor in the Ministry of Justice in its session yesterday, and submitted a recommendation to the House of Representatives to vote on it in this regard."
According to the statement, the Prime Minister appreciated "Haider Hanoun's efforts in combating corruption throughout his previous term as head of the Commission," stressing "the government's continuation in combating corruption, which is one of its priorities," wishing "success and good luck to the new head of the Commission."
It is noteworthy that Mohammed Ali Al-Lami is the oldest Director General of the Integrity Commission, and has extensive experience in legal and administrative work related to integrity.
A government source reported on Tuesday (October 22, 2024) that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani had approved the request to relieve Haider Hanoun of the presidency of the Integrity Commission, based on his request.
The source told Baghdad Today, "The Council of Ministers voted during its current session to appoint Hanoun as an advisor in the Ministry of Justice."
