    The Ministry of Trade announced, on Sunday, that a joint team had conducted visits to a number of local factories located in the Awerij area, south of Baghdad.
    The ministry said in a statement, seen by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "a joint team from the Commercial and Financial Control Department and representatives of the Ministries of Industry / General Directorate of Industrial Development and the Directorate of Combating Organized Crime affiliated with the Ministry of Interior and the Federation of Iraqi Industries and representatives of the Private Sector Development Department and the Export Support Fund visited a number of local factories located in the Awerij area south of Baghdad; in order to see the reality of the work of these factories and research mechanisms to support and develop the national product and develop Iraqi exports in a way that enhances and diversifies the resources of the national economy."

    Director General of the Control Department Riyadh Mahdi Al-Moussawi said, according to the statement, that "in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Trade Athir Dawood Al-Ghariri, the joint team conducted field visits that included Al-Jazeera and Al-Qaim Dairy Plants and Barada Mineral Water Plants, in addition to visiting the Coral and Ruby Dyes Plant; with the aim of knowing the actual production capacity of these factories, the number of workers, how to market their products, the obstacles facing the production process, and providing a database for Iraqi factories and plants in all governorates."

    Al-Moussawi pointed out, "The importance of developing the private sector and providing an appropriate environment for it in light of the new trend of moving from a directed economy to a free economy and in a manner consistent with the general economic policies of the state, in addition to developing the investment process by supporting commercial activity in various fields of internal and external trade."
